Are Glasspacks really the sh*t?

Ranger thanks for the suggestion . I checked out Flowmasters site and think I'm gonna go with the Delta 50s. As mentioned in a previous reply the popping on deaccelartion with glass packs sounds terrible. Reminds me of the Hondas these young kids waste there money on
 
I have Flowmaster 40s on my 383 with 2 3/4 pipes and it sounds great. Glasspacks for a 60s style resto but why not use the modern technology today.
 
I have Hemi mufflers I got from Accurate Exhaust in back of my 383. I'm very happy with he sound. It has a nice rumble going down the road but it doesn't drown you out.
 
All glasspacks are crap no matter who makes them, their are too many good mufflers on the market besides the noise will drive you crazy. I put thrush on mine the third day a state trooper pull me over said they were too loud had to take them off! So I put two more on the exhaust that was a little more quiet.:lol::steering:pic in drive.JPG
 
So the bear caught you. Those darn cops. I used a set of thrush and they rusted out to quick for me. Chery bomb's lasted a hole lot longer and once the glass burned out of them they where really loud. So I am still a Chery bomb man. Yes they make a lot better muffler's now. But to say if you get the stainless steel ones they are thin and have seen them developed problems where they are pinched together. Just my two cent's.
 
I ran cherry bomb header mufflers with 3" pipe to the rear axle for years, about 5 years ago switched to Flowmaster 40's, didnt like them so I switched to Super 44s, there ok but dont have the deep sound of my cherry bombs,
 
Each to his own. It is a matter of what a person like or don't. I am not going to run headers on the 383 figure it breath's well enough. Header's are a pain and always having to do something to them. But that is just me. They leak and move too much for my liking for a driver. Would have them if racing and wanted more air flow through the motor. Mid range in take is good and the four barrel will be fine. Looking for dependability in the long run. A driver with a good sound and enough power to say I have a mopar. :steering:

Russ I kept the cast iron manifolds and had a friend bend the pipes for me. He used what he called a California turbo muffler. It is built like a stock muffler in width but is about half the length. It has a deep sound and looks stock. As you stated it all depends on what you like on your car. Keep at it Russ.
 
Mufflers...I have been using cheaper than anything turbo mufflers forever. Nice about them is reasonable quiet until your foot gets into it.
