that in 1969 Plymouth was using metric fittings on their brake lines? So says the kid behind the counter at Auto Zone. I found that the drivers front wheel cylider was leaking. Of course the hard line broke. By this time my Car Quest was closed. The Wife's sister is getting married next weekend so there is family coming. Had to get the grass cut. Of course i can't get the mower out with the car in the way, but can't move the car. With all the dman rain, I needed to get the grass done. The sky was blue for a change yeasterday, so I ran down to AZ, and they had the cylinder, although Jr tried to sell me the passenger side, said I had the wrong one.......thank God I take the old parts with me. Then we move onto the brake line. Jr made the startling discovery about the metric fittings. I kept my cool, and walked with the cylinder. And this was after hearing that Chrysler wasn't very good cause they did all kind of weird stuff, and hearing about his '81 Camaro. Left the Zone and went down the street to Advance and got the brake line, and surprise surprise it has sae fittings, which fit like glove. And I only had to go to three Auto Zones....the first the kid behind the counter, upon hearing what car I had, said, great car, I have a '67. I said '67 what? oh, road runner...I just :toetap: at the kid, and he said, oh, '68. well he didn't have it, but said their next store over did. go there, they couldn't find it, but there next store did, which lead me to Camaro boy. Monday morning, I'm going to my Car Quest guy and beg for forgiveness.. :worship:

Personally I like the '67 Road Runners. They're a little boxy, but the sequential rear turn signals more than make up for it. And they still had the SAE brake line fittings. :basketcase: :basketcase: :basketcase:

I was talking to the installation guys at Best Buy once... My XM radio in my Corvette was on the fritz and I was trying to figure out the problem. Something was said about the antenna mounting and I told them it was under the hatch in the back. Oh.. and it's a magnetic mount. One guy said "you should put it on the outside of the car" I just said "it's a Vette" Them "Oh, and you don't like the look of the antenna"... Me "No.. it's a Corvette... the magnetic won't stick to it" Them "just put it on the roof". Me "No, it's Corvette, the roof is fibreglass" Them "put it on...." I stopped them "It's a Corvette, the car is fibreglass... You guys work on cars so don't tell me you guys know that" They didn't, in fact they asked when they started making Corvettes out of fibreglass...

No Auto Zones out where you live? You can't drive six blocks down here without running into one...

I usually go to Advance for the nit-noi, day-to-day crap since my former neighbor manages the one near our house...

I'm lucky, I have an old buddy that works in the NAPA "main" store. He still drives a Dart Lite that I sold him many years ago.

I got that kinda thing with my Charger. "I need such and such for a '68 Dodge Charger" Is that 4WD or 2WD?"
Dad likes to have fun with these guys. Once he went to one of these placs for something for mom's caravan. The Manager was behind the counter with the kid that was waiting on Dad, and got a kicout of what he was doing. The kid was reading down the questions on the comp-
year
auto or standard
ac
what size engine
Dad said "426 Hemi with twin 4s"
the kid said he didn't see that size listed...the manager just about peed himself, then he let him in on the joke.
I have nothing against the young guys, I was young and learning too, but these kids that know nothing more than what the comp is asking them are a waste.

Just now I realized how I was mislead. You must have told that very knowledgeable kid at Auto Zone that it was a "Green" Roadrunner.......

I never set foot in those places except the Pepgirls near my house, you know Fanny Flo and Jackie, for an occasional quart of oil or can of spray bomb. Hub auto parts is my parts place but all the older guys are dying off (retiring) and the next wave is pretty sad. Just a sign of the times. Imagine trying to get parts for a stock model A or something at Autozone? Exactly.
