F&B 6BBL 572Hemi (Taking the Bird apart)

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(4 mile movie)

Great video Dutch! That looks like some beautiful country where you live! Though those streets around the homes make that b-body look pretty big!!!

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(4 mile movie)

Sweet video! Looks like you need a shoe horn to drive on those streets with the big old road runner. That wind is kinda bad sounding but good video still.

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(4 mile movie)

Those street become even smaller when there's traffic like a truck comming from the other side.
It pays to know the 4 corners of your bird.
Also dont have the passsengerside mirror.

Gopro says the closed container is good for speeds up to 70mph.
Was driving 55mph.
The crackle seems to come from the loud/low exhaust sound.
Will make movie next time from inside car and have the open rear on the camera container.

It sure is nice George.

Any lock with rollerlifters?

Love the video Dutch, car sounds awesome,a real shame with the wind noise on the mic though.
You'll have better luck with the camera in the car,you still get a good exhaust note.
It's fun on those tight roads ain't it

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(4 mile movie)

Was at local speedshop Thursday and Friday to solve crankseal leakage.
Found some interresting thing inside oilpan.

The 4.500 stroke crank normally does not permit an internal pick up tube.
The guy I bought the engine from said it had a special made pick up tube for internal use.

Found the tube made fit with hammer and grinder.
Also was still hitting the rods bigend and had almost broke trough the tubes wall.
If this would have happened the vacuum would have gone and the oilpump would no longer be able to pull oil up and this would have been the end of the 572Hemi.

This is now solved for the moment.
Will convert to Milodon external pick up and pumplid soon.

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(close shave)

Good thing you caught it, losing that engine would be awful. How did you think to pull the oil pan?

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(close shave)

Zupanj: Pulled the pan due to leaking crankseal.

Kind of makes me wander what other short cuts were taken

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(close shave)

Me2 Hemi.
Will drive this season very carefully.
Engine will be ejected this winter and torn apart 100%.
Like to spend 2K for teardown instead of 10K in broken parts , or worse.

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(close shave)

Made a test drive today (100miles) and reduced the treatdepht of rear tires about 1 milimeter.

No leaking and no issues.
Just have to check the lash of valves.

2 weeks until the roadtrip to Mopar Nats in Switzerland.
900miles.

thats what i have....dual line...with the swing gate pickup....steering link runs thru the pan....9 qt

Re: F&B 6BBL XFI2.0 572Hemi(close shave)

Think I'll take the Milodon oilpump and lid with the external single pick up and static inside 7qt pan.
Will not see >6000rpm.
