Hello everyone...new to the board, came over from Moparts (can I say that here?). My name is Scott and I live in southern New Jersey. I have owned my project Road Runner since 1996 (I was 21 at the time!). Past Mopars I've owned include a '69 Dodge Polara 500 383-2 convertible and a '78 Magnum GT with T-Tops and factory CB radio.
About the car...It's a Y2 Sunfire Yellow 383 4-speed convertible. NOM but trans numbers do. Black top, black bench seat interior. Few options, but has a factory tach, the A31 3.91 HP Axle Package, Road Wheels, and AM radio. Manual steering and manual drums. Has the original fender tag and ownership history back to day one when it was purchased new at Reedman Chrysler-Plymouth. Has had a pistol grip in it since 1970 when the original owner swapped it in.
I added the wood-grain steering wheel, pedal dress-up package, and factory ashtray and glovebox lamps (no light package on this car: ever try and find something in the glovebox at night? You'd have to pull up under a street light and put the top down!) but left all else original. Still a project and needs finishing but runs and drives very well. 383 rebuild .030 over with a mild cam, trans rebuilt w/Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, rear rebuilt with Richmond gears and new bearings and seals. New 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with "H" pipe (TTI), Flowmaster 40 Deltas and stainless tips. Brakes and lines all new, fuel lines and tank all new. Legendary interior skins, new carpet, new top. All the difficult bodywork has been completed and includes new trunk floor, extensions, and left quarter panel. The floors were nearly perfect and I painted the underside of the car the body color and undercoated it. There's a lot more, but that gives you all an idea of what I'm working with. I am here to read and learn, so I will probably be mostly lurking about. I will try and add pics if there is any interest.
Regards,
Scott
