I want to use the original fresh air hood system with original air cleaner, do I need to use stock intake for height or has someone figured out aluminum intake options? Crazy what they want for these things.

Now looking to. Use a 440, has anyone converted from 383 to 440 ant still used the shaker? What did you have to do to make it work? 440 with stock intake is 3/4 inch higher than 383 with stock intake. Any help would be appreciated

The air cleaner base that goes to the carburetor would need to be changed but it should be the same otherwise sure others will chime in

It's just the base - you can cut a 383 down to 440 height and I figure you can space a 440 up to fit a 383.

I've got a fiberglass base hanging on the wall that I bought years ago. I cut it to the correct height (had a Holley Street Dominator manifold on a 440) but it was way too "floppy" to satisfy me. I eventually used a drop-base aircleaner that would fit inside the hood pieces and did without sealing things to the hood.

I tried cutting one back in the day and it didn't quite fit the carburetor exactly so it'd be best to buy the correct base sell the other base because somebody's going to need it you can cut it but I should never have cut the one I did

Hey while we’re on this subject. I have a 440 in my roadrunner with a Edelbrock performer. I’ve got an OE air grabber hood and plenum. I’ve got the low base plate and air cleaner lid coming in the mail. Does anyone know how much difference there is in height in the OE cast intake and this Edelbrock? Am I going to run into any issues with height?

I think you're going to have troubles as I told you I cut my air cleaner I believe it was a 440 base and I had to cut it because my elderbrock ch4b was taller and caused height issues if you put the manifold side by side you'll see the difference if you look at a stock one

I forgot to mention I have the correct 70 Carter 4740 AVS carb. I hope I don’t have to trim it. Who wants to trim a brand new $500 part. The car is not quite ready for the world to see . It’s getting close though.

Can't cut the carburetor it would be best if you got a plastic or Fiber style base would be easier to deal with and to cut and a rework so just hoping I'm so wrong and everything fits good for you but I think you're in for some work here bro

Didn’t mean to mislead you cutting a carb. Just mentioning the carb to show somewhat correct heights. Obviously carbs vary in height. Thanks I’ll find out quick enough I guess.

Oh I get your point yeah check in the height of the carburetor could make a difference too is The Holleys probably taller and I ran a Holleycarburetor

Do you like the factory and use the stock Style carburetor this way it's a sure to fit at least that's what I think it would do for sure stock intake stock car should use the stock base that's for the engine and the n96 should fit

That is an example what you're going to need to do if you're going to buy a carburetor I advise you to call Summit Racing they're going to ask you specific questions about the engine to be able to help you pick the correct CFM carburetor for your application so that's the smart way to do it
