Hello , any of you guys have an solution to the melting of shifter cable from B&M ?
It is NOT next to headers(with thermo wrap) minimal distance 4 inch.
It is NOT an ground issue( out side is melting , not inside).
It is NOT possible to place heat shield due to TTI's and High torq starter.
It has an thermo sleeve around the cable(sparkplug wire sleeve).

Does any body know of a company wich makes these cables without this B.S. teflon .
I have changed 2 already sinds the last 8000 miles , I am starting to go :loco:

Solution:
Throw that junky automatic in the trash and put a stick in it like road runners were suppose to be...............

dutch....i hope my answer helps

Thanks George , will place aditional shield from alu between TTI's and B&M cable . also see if I can get cable behiund the hightorq starter.

P.s. George does any 6BBL cars here on the forum have Promax's "maxpack"on their cars?

I had one that melted from the heat of an exhaust leak. I don't think they are meant to withstand any kind of high temperature.

Don't think any of the regulars are; John & Mac are running standard-issue Holleys IIRC, Big John's car is disassembled and was also running the factory set-up when last together (again, IIRC), and my stock Six Barrel set-up is pulling mock-up duty on the engine stand...maybe we have a lurker that could chime in...?

Thanks Guys , My RR is not stock 6BBL offcourse .
Will put car on dyno in about 6-8 weeks and see what it makes after some changing.
Will do a base-line run b4 I make any changes.
Will keep you guts updated about 19695276727323(nymbers)

I just melted my 3rd cable earlier today

Drove across town and the shifter felt kinda mushy.

Next thing I knew, it was stuck in 3rd and that's how I drove all the way back to the shop in traffic.

I had it sleeved with one of these....

And also had it covered with these wherever it was closest to the header pipes....

What's odd is that it melted at the loop, which is nowhere near the pipes :o

The part that's actually touching one of the pipes looks fine.

Oh well, gotta pick up another one in the morning.

Maybe I should pick up two and keep it as a spare
