I have fixed lots of parts of an engine, but nothing major. And I have never even thought of building one. I like good ol' stock engines. Anyway, I was just passing some time on ebay and noticed this crate engine. Don't spend too much time on this guys, but what do you think he has into this motor? I am wondering how much it probably cost and how much he stands to make. I AM NOT INT THE MARKET FOR A MOTOR. I am just curious......about the engine....nothing gay. LOL !!!

I took out a lot of salesman type literature and left the specs.

Someone else will have to take a stab at this one, as I am decidely not the crate motor guy. Don't know and don't care. To me, building the engine is the best part of any build, so why would I pay someone else to enjoy the part that brings me maximum pleasure? Be like paying someone to have sex with my wife... :loco:
Now if they want to take her off of my hands for those few special "Ladies Days" each month, well, we might be able to work something out... :lmao:

There's really no such thing around here as thread hijacking as everyone is so laid back about banter and having fun, but this is a pretty extreme example so I'll throw out the cursory "Sorry for the thread hijack" to our friend Mr. Stansbury just to make sure that we do not offend... :D

No offense at all. I threw it out there because I was happened upon the motor when I was surfing ebay. Since I haven't a clue as to how much something like that really costs, I thought I would ask yall.

It looks like things were kinda slow around here anyway.

Nothing like a little talk about motors to get yall going. LOL!!!

I've never done a rebuild like some of the guys here have done. when we did the 440 for my Charger in '86, we did a stock rebuild. bore 30 over, new pistions, cam, bearings, chain and gears, cleaned up crank. reused rods, bolts. got new clutch/pp,new starter, oil, fuel pumps, rebuilt carb. $1800 including the machine work. I had never rebuilt an engine before, had a buddy of my Dad's that had done several help us. He said the machinist did all the hard work. We did the teardown and reassembly. Pretty easy and lotta fun. Great feeling when it fired up.
