Starting Engine After long winter

well my engine builder always told me if the motor has been sitting for awhile a flat tappet motor the cam and lifter only get oil from splashing so if it has been sitting for awhile if you crank it for a minute the oil pump will pump oil in the heads and then the cam and lifts will get the oil . if the motor starts right up there is a few seconds that the cam and lifts don't have a lot of oil so at 3000 rpm is will wear alittle if the motor has been sitting for awhile . it is better to be safe then sorry
