Reached the milestone of dash frame install.
Yeah!
Before I go further I'm freshening up the pads.
SEM .
"Satin" seems more like my other cars.
(They are undyed.)
Dash pad does have a sheen.
Less glare?
Should I use gloss?
Pictures for a general idea.

It is not a gloss finish. Should be satin. For paint one sell what you need. Or the one I ordered from In California. Just can't remember the name rite now will have to hunt up the can.

Pulled the frame back out to remove the pad.
Wasn't happy with the consistency of the sheen.
Too flat due poor application.
It was the way I applied the dye.
I've used it before and have learned that to get an even and correct application you have to be careful and spray evenly one coat and let it completely flash off before applying any more.
You can not just spray one place you may have missed during the pass.
This is "satin" which looks very good.
Not too shiny.
I resprayed the other pads to match.
Much better than gloss.

I think you are considering the frame itself?
That pant is a lacquer and no longer produced by PPG.
Last I checked Instrument Specialties was selling small quantities of it.
They are not only pricey but I can't buy small quantities of paint because I always need more to fix screw ups.
I used PPG Hotrod Black which others have used.
Near enough is good enough.

Did you check with for paint one. He sells rattle can paint. If you are happy with it, then go for it. I just say it is your car and build it like you want it. Was trying to help. I know a pint can of the paint is not cheap and time to get it is long. Enjoy the car and drive it. LOL. Here is my glove box lid looks like my dash pad.

I'm my experience rattle can paint is not hard enough.
Every time I've tried it you can mark it with your fingernail.
That's why I've stuck with 2K auto paint for surfaces like doors.
The only exception to that might be epoxy "appliance " paint.
I'm doing that right now.
Krylon seems better than Rustoleum.
Sprays and sets hard faster.

Full disclosure: For surfaces not exposed to touch like headliner trim I have used rattle can.

I am not a purest for say. I have use stainless steel bolts in some places in steed of plain metal. LOL. Put stainless steel trim on my door panes just because I wanted to break up all the black and give it something else. After thinking about the paint TCP paint from out in CA.
