I'd be really tempted to leave that trunk area alone just to have the original paint.

I would keep as much of the original paint as you can. That'll help verify it down the road. Unless you're going for a concourse restoration.

That is a thought. With the paint but being like I am would bed line the sucker. I will make the car last longer. Also repaint the out side Petty Blue again. Probably use a single stage paint it dose not cost as much as the two stage paint job. Or fix it up and drive the heck out of it.

Nope no Concours. I'm going to try and keep as much as possible. Thanks
Well clean it good with a good grease remover then clear coat it like gas monkey has done many a car and truck. Good luck and keep the pic's coming so we can see the progress. Russ. :steering:

Going to paint the car back to Petty blue and keep as much original. As far as single stage and 2 stage me and the painter were just talking about that yesterday, he said he'd do it either way. I seen a couple of Petty blue cars at a car show and the one painted bc/cc just didn't look right, I'm leaning more towards the single stage. What are some of your thoughts out there???

Single stage would be a lot less money. It takes a lot less time. BUT I think two stage look's better. I think you can get metallic paint in single stage check with your paint guy. It depends on how far you want to take it. I have at least 2000 in paint in this runner. That is Epoxy prime feather filler-base coat-but did my flak in a color blender and then Matrix clear. Every thing was Matrix paint. Now Matrix dose not make black Epoxy prime only gray and I am only half way through painting the car bummer. So had to go to East wood to get the black Epoxy not Matrix. Hate to change horses in the middle of the stream. Now it is your choice less money single stage and quicker and more expensive with two stage. Russ.

engine bay right.jpg You're doing a great job. Keep going. Thank you for restoring one of the most classic muscle cars of all time.
I love my 68 RR (383 four speed, QQ1 Electric Blue). When I go to car shows it really stands out. Most people tell me it's a refreshing change from looking at so many hot rods with chrome 350 Chevy's under the hood. ;)

Yep the lost and found section. Are you finding that welding the beer can metal is a challenge to keep from warping the metal. Had some problem's with the outer wheel tub when section cutting the old off and putting on the new one. Good job. Things are moving along.
