I`ve heard good and bad about chemical dipping, the good is that it strips everything clean but the bad is it can leach out later on if not 100% nuetralized and it also removes any corrosion protetion that might have been left inside the frame rails and other areas you that are hard to get to. You can use a wand to get inside the rails with some type of rust preventative afterwards. Sandblasting is good for everything you can get to but the bad with that is you can`t get to the inner areas such as inside rails etc. and don`t have body panels done unless the guy doing it is really good and won`t warp them so both have positives and negatives - choice is yours I guess.
Honestly, I'm very nervous about chemical dipping. ProStrip Indy in Indianapolis Indiana seems to be legit. I have been installed contact with those folks for a couple of months. However, they're trying to sell me their services and everything is perfect and wonderful.

I might take them my trunk lid and see how they do rather than the whole car.

Thank you so much for the guidance!!!

I'll keep you (and everyone) posted on this!

The go to for bare metal parts these days is epoxy primer, nothing wrong with e-coating but you will have to prime over it anyway so IMO it`s an un-needed step, it`s basicaly a cheap an easy way for the manufacturer to put a coating on bare metal parts to keep them from rusting while waiting to get primed and painted.
Very good!

Thank you for the guidance! My plan is to have the Roadrunner stripped (either chemical or media blasting-still deciding), make the appropriate sheetmetal repairs and then have the car professionally painted. (T5 Bronze Fire )

My challenge is to reduce or prevent rust during sheetmetal repair and paint. Rattle can and weld thru Primer?

Thoughts?

NO rattle can paint as any good body shop will NOT want to prime or paint over it and would need to strip it all off, instead as soon as possible after stripping or blasting sand/prep any metal you are saving and get a good epoxy on it, there obviously may be areas you need to work on that will need to be cleaned back to bare metal. I am currently using Omni brand which is a cheaper version of PPG but still good, I also considered SPI products. https://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/

Ok,

Met my goal for the weekend: catalog, document, removed and store the clutch pedal linkage assembly.1000008556.jpg
It turns out I'm missing the pedal rod, spring washer, (4) sealing washers and the rubber slip pad on the brake pedal.

Fun discovery: (4) 1/2" Bolts go through the fire wall and secure the brake fluid master cylinder to the fire wall.

Removed all the fasteners and organized them in the order they were removed. With some gentle persuasion, the entire assembly came out.

Gonna work on the parking brake soon.

Does “gentle” persuasion include using a ford tool? ( a bfh)
LOL!!! No,

Gentle persuasion was a small ballpene, a couple of light taps and some manual rocking back and fourth until the assembly came loose.

All and all: the clutch/brake assembly came out relatively easily once I figured out all the fasteners I needed to remove
