Thank you abodybill and basketcase. I will hang in there and go w/ the flow (masters!!!) (Get busy livin' or get busy dyin!! The classics keep me "livin"!!!! Best to all of you!
Is this really all that complicated? Not trying to be critical, but my reference pt. is-my RR has a Maaco paint job (actually 2) (I didn't do it-done by former owner. I believe its single stage. Regular Turtle wax was terrible.
Thank you Basketcase! That gives me confidence. Believe I will attempt it after I get my electricals under dash (new wiring harness) done. $900 for the harness plus installation charge from my mechanic. Honor the timeless classics!!!
My painter/mechanic wants about 3K to paint over my green "Maaco" paint (at least two coats on it now.. Can I or should I even attempt to strip it myself? I have used airplane stripper on a porch railing, but never on a car. I know it's nasty stuff. I hate to just paint over the paint...
Thanks for the advice/input. I like to do things right. Is stripping the old paint off too much for a 70 yr old geezer. ? I'm in pretty good shape and do some house painting-small scale. I've stripped a porch railing w/ airplane stripper-that's the extent of my experience. The hood is...

Still not sure where to go to post, but will try this: Have 68 RR.-440/4 spd. Exterior was painted by former owner 2x w/ a Maaco Paint job. Every time rust started emerging he just took it to Maaco. It doesn't look half bad considering. I painting the eng.bay School Bus yellow -single...
Welcome. I just joined this site. I also have a 68 RR- formerly a 383/slushbox-converted to a 440/4spd. Not mechanically inclined but learning some things. Have had car for about 4 yrs. My favorite so far-have had a 68 fstbk stang and a 66 stang convertible. I wish you luck w/ your car !
I am a classic car fan. I am not a mechanic-I work doing painting jobs to supplement my car. I enjoy car shows, driving my 68 RR , and meeting other hobbyists. This terrific pastime keeps me young!!!! I have had a 68 Mustang Fstbk and a 66 Mustang convertible. I like all classics no matter...
