I have the old factory speaker on the left and the harness in mine will not even reach the right side. Now this is an a/m f/m with the balance knob front to rear

OK... Looks like I'm wrong.... But I do know it just was one speaker. Is that a 5x7 or a 6x9??

Your not totally wrong Big's, you got the one speaker part right. :leave: :lmao: :lmao:[/quote:32sfsq2p]

I just learned somethin'. Didn't know that the holes were for one defogger and one speaker. So, was FM stereo available on a 69 b-body and if so, what was the speaker configuration?

Mine was originally equipped with the AM/FM radio. The speaker arrangement was 1 rear speaker and 1 front speaker.

here's my GTX defogger dash shot, defogger is on the passenger side and I have the rear spaker with fader on the driver's side the fader control is just to the left of the reverse light, it also has the 3-speaker dash with am-8track (that still works great!) I can't find my dealer installed one, it's boxed up somewhere.

Love the change to your avatar ranking, Big...

And the Don Quixote avatar - a subtle reference to the fictitious B&W "Don Quixote" decals on the '68 Plymouth LaMancha - was an outstanding touch...!!! :lmao:

Question, I'm hooking up the wiring for the rear defroster. For those who have this option what color are the wires for it ? I have the original wiring on the switch, it has a red and a black and white bonded together going down the left side kick panel but the rest of the harness from there to the back is missing. Is it just these two wires going to the blower or is there something else. I have to get the rest of the wiring somewhere as I do not have it in the car. Someone must have removed it before I bought the car years ago. I have several wiring diagrams but only one shows anything about it and it appears to be a black/white wire going into just a black wire at the blower motor. The white wire is labeled as a resistance wire. HELP ! :beep:

ken is the rear defogger a 2 speed? looking at the diagrams and it looks to me like they are using a resitance wire to possibly change the speed. does that sound right?

Mac, yes it is a two speed blower motor and a 2 speed switch in the dash as well. I'm not sure what the resistance wire is for but what you said does sound logical to me. It's just that I have not seen a blower set up before so I am not sure of how it is wired. Anyone else have any pics or ideas ? :toetap:

well it appears to me that there should be 2 wires (black and a white) that go from the switch to a female connector. then from the corresponding male connector thereare 2 wires (black and a white resistance wire) which come together to a single connection to the defogger motor. then 1 black from the motor to ground. do i have it right so far?

Mac, sure sounds like you have it nailed. This is what my diagram looks like as well. I just have to get the harness to do it. :toetap:
