70 RR pretty much factory setup
Was wonderng what people are running for shocks?
mine has air shocks with no lines on it ,but i have to tell you rides really good
i dont know how but it does. hate to change ride quality
monroe , Gabriel, kyb, bilstein?
was gonna order just monroe senatracs
 
Are the shocks you have now in bad shape or just wanting something that look's new. Got mine from summit racing. Monroe. For the rear.
 
Well, like I said there are air shocks with no lines that ain’t good.
So what are the other three of you guys using?
 
There is a shock inside the air shock that probably got very little use. That said I search for a hydraulic shock like the originals because I was striving for originality.. I tried a gas charged shock and it road rough
 
I've got air shocks, with about 20 pounds of air just to drive certain people nuts......But I get my lift from beefed up springs.
 
general problem with the gas shocks was that the crossmenber they are attached to on top is not designed to carry the weight of the car if you have the shocks extended a little. have been known to just punch through the trunk floor. like kyb's personally

i agree with this completely. when i was getting my car together, i had pieces of the crossmember because there were air shocks on it. never, never, never meant to carry any weight of the car.
 
Yes and it can cause a crack in the shock upper support. This is common by having the shock carrying the load instead of the spring's. But when young did not know better and got air shock's to get clearance for the bigger tire's. Like I said Monroe shock's with 2 and 1/2 inch recurve spring 6 leaf will give you that 60's look.

I had that problem with my first Road Runner that I bought in '72. I didn't see it when I first bought the car but found it soon after when I heard a lot of banging going over bumps. Th PO had instead of replacing the shock mount just bolted the ends to the trunk floor which tore that up. So I had it replaced.
 
I have Competition Engineering adjustable's on the front and Mopar Performance drag shocks on the rear. These shocks with an adjustable pinion snubber and I'm hooking pretty good and the ride ain't bad.

I absolutely recommended KYB Gasajust shocks! I’ve used them on bout everything: ‘55 Brand “C” autoxer, 74 Elky, the Satty, ‘03 Lightning, and ‘46 Stupidbaker with Mustang II front end. The control is there with better ride than “cop” shocks back in the day on B bodies!

Just beware when installing: They use higher(!) gas pressure than most. When you cut the restraining strap make sure it’s lined up (ask me how I know).:beep:
