I hope all that attended the Spring Fling had a blast.
I parked the Roadrunner because I think I need to change the cam out again. Thats going to happen tomorrow finally. I don't know if the last cam was too big or if the cam was not degreed in properly so since I don't have the spec card...
Thank you for the replies. I've been knee deep in finishing my engine in the Corvette and running down parts to start the build of a 1966 Chevelle, but I need to get the radiator fixed soon.
Thanks again,
Barry
My car is very orginal but I either need a new black MOPAR radiator, 26 inch, or re-core my original radiator.
Where are you buying new radiators? I seen them in Year One and Classic Industries will take about 3 weeks.
Thanks,
Barry
First I'd like to thank all that posted responses in the last post.
Just got back from a trip. Left the RR with the dyno shop for a week. They did all they could do they thought, then they found a serious vacuum leak coming from the carb gasket if I got the info correctly. Will find out more...
Re: Low end not there but 326 hp and 438 tq at the rear whee
Thank you for the posts.
The trans in the RR is a stock 4 speed. I talked to Hughes Engine and the cam they recommended was the Whiplash cam. Many told me the 770 Holley was too big. So I put on a 670 Holley. The car stumbles on...
Re: Low end not there but 326 hp and 438 tq at the rear whee
Cam specs listed in post below with regards to dyno run. The cam was degreed in by an engine machine shop. I hope they degreed the cam correctly.
Thanks,
Barry
We put the 670 carb in and capped off the vacuum advance and that moved the curve up about 1000 rpms. Hp is 329 was 293 and tq is now 438 was 401. Runs great on the freeway and after initial acceleration.
It is a Whiplash cam and 452 heads.
Problem is, it has no low end acceleration, even...
Currently my fuel line goes from the fuel pump under the alternator against the block/water pump and up the the carb. The car runs well cool bt when the car warms up, the car doesn't run as well. I think the gas is getting too hot. What is the correct way to run this fuel line on a stock 383...
Re: Engine dyno results included question results
The dyno results have the hp of 291 max at 4000 rpms and a max tq of 401 at 2750 rpms. That just doesn't seem right.
Thanks,
Barry
I had the car on the dyno and its only making 260 hp and 350 tq and when shut down, the engine deisels. We changed out the distributor and also put in a Flame Thrower Peritronix (sp?). I had a Holley 770 on the car and took it off and installed a 670 Holley.
The last dyno on the car results...
I finished replacing my rear main seal again. After the first two drives there was no leak. Now there seems like there is a minor leak. I'm taking it to the races at Barona today but not to race. After about a 1/2 drive, I put a piece of cardboard under the car and throughout the night...
I ordered the Mancini rear main seal kit housing, guide pins seals and it came with no instructions.
What is the correct way to install the seal? Which way does the seal face and how do you konw what is the front of the seal that faces in toward the engine and what is the part that faces back...
What is a good quench for the engine? I have a high performance head gasket that is .041. How do I measure the piston in the hole so I can add that number to the .041? I'm reading that the around .045 is ideal for about 10.5-1 compression with flat top pistons.
I'm also using 440 heads...
I read the post about the problem with the leaking rear seal. I ordered the rear main seal kit from Mancini. The mechanic has never done a rear seal change on a Roadrunner and belives this can be done with the transmission installed.
So my question is: can you change the rear main seal with...
