So I was just about to buy some new wheels and tires. I saw a RR with a 225/70/15 setup and the stance was great. However, I was hoping for a bit wider tire.
Any clearance issues going to 235 on all four corners?
15x8 wheels for these tires?
By going with a 70 tires versus 60 makes...
Thank you. My orange plate does NOT rotate when the Grabber opens and closes. Do you mind taking a picture or two to show me how it is supposed to work?
I just got a 1970 RR with the air grabber (non-original). Their is a skirt around the underside of the hood that covers the air filter. How does the engine get air with the scoop down?
OP here...timing was at 10. Bumped it to 12 with no noticeable difference other than the car seems a bit more responsive. But it might be in my head! I'm going to try every BEFORE having to switch out a cam and pulling a motor!
OP here....I have not had a chance to take a timing reading. The car has a serpentine belt setup and I haven't seen any timing marks. I'm getting my garage floors done with epoxy, so the car is in storage for a few days. I can report back when I can get a better look!
OK, reporting back....I was getting about 3" of vacuum at idle. After messing with the idle and air/fuel screws, I am now getting about 5.5" of vacuum at 950 RPM. What else should I adjust to get the vacuum higher?
I checked the fuel floats withe the clear sight glass (which subsequently...
It is a 440 motor. I will get a vacuum gauge on it and report back. What should vacuum be at 900 rpm with a 440 6 barrel?
Thinking of plumbing a T fitting on booster hose. Best place to get vacuum reading?
Previous owner just told me it has a "mild cam Mopar 509 lift" with a new brake booster from Ramman installed with a new master cylinder, just a couple years old. He seems to think it is all in the carb setup. Seeing that elevation is the only thing that has changed, maybe he is right?
More helpful info (maybe)....The car seems to want to die at idle of 900. At the lights I would hold the gas to 1000-1100 RPM so I didn't run the risk on her dying at the light.
So here's the thing, I test drove the car in New Jersey where I bought it. No brake boost issues at all. The owner has been straight with me on all issues with the car, even mentioning to me that it pops out of 2nd gear sometimes (which it does). He claims to have not had any brake boost...
I should also mention that the car came from sea level to 7,000 feet and I am running a bit rich and having idle issues. Is it possible that if I re-jet, this issue could go away? I have not checked vacuum (where is the best place to check this?) but I planned on following a step-by-step guide...
So I am shaking out all the problems with my new '70 RR. It has GREAT disk brakes on the front when the RPM's are high. Stops better than my new truck! However, when the RPM's are at 1,000 or less (idle), I have NO power breaks and standing on the pedal helps, but does not safely stop the...
So my new (to me) '70 RR keeps popping out of 2nd gear, but not when I upshift usually. It happens when I am slowing down for a stop light/sign and I downshift. So it seems to be a one-sided issue with the trans gears. Could this be as simple as a linkage adjustment or something? It has...
Has anyone installed a short throw shifter for their RR? Were you able to use the stock pistol grip? If you have a specific short throw shifter you like, please let me know which one! Thanks.

New guy here! I hope soon to be able to call myself a "Road Runner" owner, but right now I'm a want-to-be. I have a '61 Vette with Mechanical Fuel Injection, but now I am looking for a muscle car. I think a 1970 Road Runner would suit me perfectly. Before I pull the trigger (I'm...
