    Radiator Surge Tank?

Hey guys, hope all is well. Been really enjoying my new 505/Tremec/Dana build. Also added an FFI fuel injection system. It's a totally different car. Loving it. Anyway my coolant was low and no apparent leaks. It's been suggested to me to install a surge tank. Any thoughts? If you...

    Leaded vs. Unleaded?

At the risk of opening up a topic that has been beaten to death. . . During my recent chassis dyno session, I was (always have) gotten a bit of run on when trying to shut the engine off when it's hot. The guys told me that other than making some mods to help with vapor lock and/or fuel...

    Smith's Radiators

Quick update on this issue: The Smith's Radiator and twin Spal fans pushing about 1,200 CFM each, this 505 never gets above 195 in traffic. The Spals are quite a bit louder than whatever came with my Champion radiator, but the overheating problem seems to be a thing of the past.

    WANTED Front Windshield Trim

Hey guys, hope you're all well. Anybody got any nice chrome trim for the front windshield for my 69? Just got a new OEM windshield and want to top it off with nicer trim. Thanks John

Right Stuff Detailing not the Right Stuff

Just ordered a front kit from Wildwood. 11" rotors, nice red caliper. Merry Christmas guys.

Right Stuff Detailing not the Right Stuff

Hey guys, Despite the fact that I only have 1,000 miles on the brand new conversion kit from Right Stuff, the front calipers are sticking. Looking for recommendation to replace all 4 calipers to work with my existing rotors. I'm fine buying calipers and rotors as well, but would prefer...

    Smith's Radiators

Thanks guys. I hear some guys swear by the electric fans and others not. I guess depends on the build and other factors. Thanks for all the input. Going to try a Smith's Radiator for now and go from there.

    Smith's Radiators

Hey guys, hope all are well. Been trying to solve an overheating issue on my 69. New 505 CID motor, Tremec 5 speed and Strange S-60 3.54 rear. In traffic she gets way too close to 250 degrees so I just garaged her and now she's back at the shop and we're searching for a solution. I'm...

    Custom Dash Inserts??

That's really nice, is that your car? Can you give me an idea of how you did it and what gauges you used? Time and money estimate? Thanks, John

    She Runs TOO HOT.

OK Guys. Finally had some time to start the motor and let it get hot and check up on a few things. TURNS OUT that only 1 of my 2 12" electric fans actually comes on. I need to mess around with the wiring to figure out what happened. Maybe dumb question, but I have to assume that if only one...

    Custom Dash Inserts??

Hey guys, hope all of you are well. I've had horrible luck with the OEM Gauges being even close to working, so I'm considering doing a custom insert made maybe from Diamond Plate and putting in all new, modern gauges. Mine is a resto-mod so not worried about OEM. Any of you guys have any...

    She Runs TOO HOT.

Hey Basketcase, where did you mount this in your Runner? I have electronic gauges under the dash that I'd like to leave in place, but did you mount this someplace you can suggest? I already have a big tach on my steering column. Thanks, John

Thanks, I'll check it out tonight. John

    She Runs TOO HOT.

Excuse my ignorance, but I really don't know. I assume it's manual because it's a pretty basic set of aftermarket gauges that I think plugs into the engine, but I'll ask my builder. I just can't believe a 26" 4 row aluminum with twin 12" electric fans isn't keeping this thing cool. J

    She Runs TOO HOT.

Actually using an aftermarket under-dash gauge with oil pressure and volts included in the cluster. I thought about changing the gauge, but the motor really does seem very hot.

    She Runs TOO HOT.

Hi George, yea, I think that's what's ultimately going to have to happen. I'll need to get a thinner radiator, but I'm tired of worrying about it. What radiator, fan and shroud are you running?? John

    She Runs TOO HOT.

Guys, I'm still trying to diagnose the problem. 100% water with a corrosion inhibitor and lubricant (no-rosion) is the coolest way to run. Anti freeze is only needed if freeze is a problem. No room for a flex fan using the existing radiator, so I'd have to get something thinner to make room...

    She Runs TOO HOT.

I know, that's why I went with electric. Pretty much ALL cars and trucks come with electric these days. I have a 2005 Suburban that does the same thing. Nice and cool all day when it's 95 degrees out. Oh well. I'm taking the Runner to a local car show tonight that they have every Friday...
