How many of you are armed when you take out your Mopar?

To answer the OPs question , if you are going to carry you should carry all the time. Why? Because if you were to be involved in a shooting and a clever lawyer asks you how often you carry and your response is not very often..only when I feel threatened or go into a bad neighborhood you are not going to fair well. It will be inferred that when you are looking for trouble you carry.
Carry everyday, if not on your person (highly recommended) in a Maxpedition bag or whatever you carry with you every day. That life threatening assault won't come when you expect it and you'll be happy if you are prepared when it does.

Just remember to not carry when going to certain locations (airports, federal, state, local gov't. buildings, etc.) Too many times people simple forget not to carry in those places because carrying is just a part of their normal "routine." Carrying should never become a "routine." You have to think about it every time you have a weapon on you. It is a big responsibility and carries a ton of consequences when you let your guard down. Drink responsibly? Carry even more so.

Just know the laws in the state you are in. They vary from state to state and "I didn't know" is the worst answer you can give.

Just reviving an old thread because I am about to get my CCL. I bought a nice new carry gun and am still debating on when, where and if to carry. I live in a pretty rural area, but when I go into Chicago (which is very infrequent) I will definitely carry. That said, many interesting comments made and I like hearing the different points of view. Rocket made a very good point.

Agreed, Rocket made an EXCELLENT POINT. If you make concealed carry a discretionary decision in your day to day life it could come back to seriously bite you in the ass. Either do it or don't do it. I travel a lot - and of course I do not carry at the airport. That has become a very conscious part of my carrying practice because I do it so frequently. However, if I'm not someplace that I had to fly to, in a gov't building, or in the pool, I have a firearm on me. Should I (God forbid) ever have to answer those questions from a lawyer I feel that I am adequately prepared.

Of coarse you could always answer yes, even if you don't.

Any weapon used to kill is considered a deadly weapon. You don't want to go in to court unless their was no way out of the situation that is you have to be in fear of your life. They always ask is their any thing else you could have done to remove the threat like leave.

I,ve had my gun permit for years now, I would not hurt a flee, but unless you want to hurt me.:thumbsup:Most all gun permit folks feel the same way. I carry a 357 Smith & Wesson airlite in my pocket always. But mopars are more fun than guns. I am a retired soldier.

I have been carrying for over 20 years and have never had an occasion to 'need' help from one of my little friends, but that is the the whole point, isn't it? To have help available, right NOW, when the cops are 'only minutes' away? I read through most of the earlier posts and found it humourus that folks in places like NY, NJ CA say they don't see/feel the need for a firearm but they live in places that abuse their 2-A rights and don't issue permits anyway. Not really a personal choice when politicans make the choice for you.....
Please send a letter or call your Senators/Congressmen and push for concealed resiprosity.

I have to defend New York State here....

There's only a small part of NYS that is anti-2A and that's the New York City area. Go 50 miles upstate of there and the world changes completely. In fact the more north you travel, the more pro 2A people you will encounter. A CCW does take a little time and patience to get, but it's not that hard. I have one... My wife has one etc. You can't use it in NYC though... They have their own CCW that you can't get unless you are willing to spend $$$ .

Well here in good old Georgia you don’t have to have a permit to keep it in your car as long as you use it in your car you will be fine

I live in Sydney, Australia, where nobody I know carries a gun. Not many people, other than maybe rural farmers or recreational hunters really feel the need to own one. But then again we don't even have a bill of rights, let alone gun rights enshrined in the constitution. On my trips to the US, I always felt safer in places where people were more pro 2A.
Gun ownership here is licensed, like driving a car, but the few people that I know who own guns have rifles and use them for hunting. I suppose not as many people are into gun ownership here, so its never really been an issue. But unlike most other Aussies, I can still understand and appreciate why gun ownership and access is important to Americans.

Maybe thats why everybody looks at me funny when I jump out of my RR wearing an NRA shirt - HA!

Living here in Utah is great if you like owing firearms among other things. Getting a permit to carry is easy as long as a person doesn't have a criminal background.
By the way, when it comes to pistols, check out the HK VP-9. You fire one of these baby's you won't want to ever go back to anything else. The Germans really know how to make firearms!
