No more Road for the Runner!

Hello guys,

A quick update about the paint shop. Seemed to be like we are cursed lol
Whenever we send the car out there something is going on. Last time the car stayed like more than 6 months in the paint shop because they had to move to a new location.

Now there is an another problem. One of the painter is arguing with the owner, so there is no more progress on our bird...
The car was send back in October 2019 to the paint shop for the final stage...

Let you all know when we'll have more income.

That sucks! Some people don’t understand that you have a business to run and people talk... good and especially the bad... and it will get around.

What do you mean boss that I have to paint black on top of all my hard work on that car?????? That sounds terrible Sixtynine Bird. Good or bad that is why I decided to paint this car my self. Wish you the best with the paint shop. You might have to be a referee down their or sell ticket's to the brawl. Hope you get the bird back soon. :thumbsup2: :kartman:When dose the fight start hope it is a good match.

Yes I hope that too... Might thinking of go get the car and find somewhere else to get it done...

Hello guys!
How is it going for you out there with the COVID-19?
Here in France we are forced to stay home for a minimum of 15 days... But we are all sure that it'll be re-conducted to 15 more at least.

That is a bit annoying because we made our final big order and we don't know how it'll be handled with the shipment and everything...

That last, but not the least, shipment is for the engine. We finally took our decision, and we finally bought the 400 stroker 451ci. It will be a real beast! It will have a forged crank from 440 source eagle rods and forged alum pistons. the heads are Indy 440-1 aluminum heads. Indy intake and a 850 holley on top. it has a big cam don't remember the specs sorry, but what I do remember is the fact that it'll pull hard from 3000rpm all the way up to 7000+ rpm. It'll move some air I presume.
The heads will be hand ported too.

This will be a nice prep. Can't wait to fire it up, should sound mean!
The power rate will be around 600+hp.

We also, on your advises form a couple of time ago now, bought the RST twin disc Mcleod clutch to handle that kinda power.
Due to that engine prep , we also decided to buy some serious rubber for the back, so it'll be some Nitto drag radial in 275/60/15.

And finally the paint shop decided to work on the car! Victory! lol so here are some pics of the car in the paint booth after the white coat applied. now they have to start the masking tape for the flat black stripes.

I was at that point 3 months back. I picked mine up from paint shop 01/02/2020.

Progress for sure! McLeod clutch very good choice. Think hydraulic throw out bearing also would be good.

Hey Quikbird,

why would a hydraulic throw out bearing would be good? What is the difference with the stock one? It is out of my knowledge on that.
Is it a factor of clutch pedal stiffness?
Or something else?

because right now I’m really running low on budget. So much thing to buy that weren’t planned. I am to the penny right now, every expense are controlled...
I presume that it is a lot to invest for the hydraulic throw out bearing? If is more than 50$ I really can’t afford it...
And I’m pretty that it is more than 50$ lol

Looking good their Sixtynine_Bird. The motor sounds killer buddy. Think we all know about the cost of building one of these car's. Nothing is cheap. It is getting pretty bad when you cant even go into a place and buy food or have a beer. Good luck on the car and waiting to see more pic's . :thumbsup2:

yes indeed, more than 50.00 for hydraulic throwout bearing. a normal setup should work fine. I mentioned it because now is the time if you are going to go to one. will need to drop the transmission out later if wish to upgrade.

Hydraulic throw out is for crippled up old people  I had a Red ram in my runner when I got it and one would almost have to go to the gym to work the right leg to keep them the same size LOL. I put a Mcleod diaphragm in and it has a nice peddle

Ok thanks Quikbird for the info then, but yes I will stay with a gold old fashion one.
If it has no influence on the good operation of the clutch or anything else if it is just for "comfort" then I'll stick with the mechanical throw out bearing. So no on I won't be able to skip leg day lol
