Oil pump problem

well that is a head banger for sure. My friend said should go dry sump like race cars. So it sounds like the external pump is the way to go. That has to be pretty expensive. Hope you get the oil pressure back when you do it. Good luck. Now where is that beer assistant?????

Okay, for anyone still interested I think we found the answer. the first picture is what we started with. this pan has been on the car for about 5 years now. it uses an internal pickup that did have to be clearance for the stroked connecting rods.




after removing the pan and the pickup tube I think Ill let the picture tell the story



THe pan has been changed to a milodon road race type pan with the wings on the side. this creates more ground clearance, and still holds about 7 quarts of oil. This however requires an oil pump set up for external feed. this oil pump happens to be a little thicker than the stock one which meant off to the store for more bolts. longer. all stuff installed and tested with the drill and now have 63 lbs pressure just on the drill with cold, fairly heavy oil. 15-40. now just have to put the distributer back in and reset timing and should be good to go.

Here we go: Both units have been received back from Powermaster. I am super happy with their service. Talked with John in returns and Dave, the engineer about my problems. I think we’ve got it this time.

Surgery and getting Stupidbaker to a couple of events has kept from getting back under to install. Its on the list!
Heck if I got it running Qbird would just have to find something else to cry about!
