http://www.keislerauto.com/mopar/b-body/1966-1970/view-all-products.html Check out this page from Keisler Engineering. They do a tko5-speed direct fit. The base 5-speed kit will run you just north of 2500.00 and they have just about any option you could ask for to increase what it can handle. Be warned though it can get pricey if you go overboard.

I like the TKO but I don't necessary like this about the "Perfect Fit":

Custom-machined transmission case and tailhousing allow the transmission to fit your floor tunnel with minimal modification. Relocating your existing shift hole to the right is required based on modern "on center" shifter design and is concealed within console. Template and sheetmetal are provided.

That 5-speed is not available yet but will be soon. Probably a six month lead time. There is a long thread on Moparts on this issue, it's a brand new designed from the ground up item and it has taken much longer to develop than Passon initially imagined. The cost is pretty high ~$4300. I would guess that Passon and Brewer will come out pretty close in price for a standard conversion kit but the stuff is very good and it's complete.

I would do some research on Kiesler before I went that direction. I recall seeing some threads some years ago about them and it seemed like the install was not that easy. Also you end up cutting up your floor board even if it's already a 4-speed car. It's been a while since I looked that this but you could do a thread search on Moparts and probably find some stuff. They may have improved since I paid attention to them.

I say just go with an 18 spline 4 speed. They hold up to a hemi. Should hold what you're pumping into it with minimal upgrades from either Passon (who I personally recommend, they did a fabulous job on my 4-speed and shifter rebuild) or Brewers.

Thanks Zupanji. I found the link regarding Kiesler. Seems that more than a few people have had issues with the install. Not interested in cutting up my car...

Pink,
This is a potentially good route to take too. Is there any specific place to find 18 spline 4 speeds for sale?

Got to looking at the transmission carefully and noticed that it has the following info on it:

433-9
2468991 5 on the tail
3410433-9

Any ideas what the numbers mean?

I decided to remove the starter to put a heat shield blanky over it and noticed that it looks like its a pretty old starter. Couldn't really find any information about it online. This thing has been starting my 13:1 engine...
As you can see it looks like the casing near the teeth broke off in two separate places and the cable on the starter got pretty rusty. Should I junk this relic and buya new starter?

That is a newer starter that looks like a mid 90's Dodge truck or even 3.3 Caravan. I guess it could be a quote, "mini-starter" that Mopar Performance advertises but I think they might even be a current model starter, too. No starter of this old vintage looked (or sounded) like that one. Try comparing it to one of those mentioned above in a bone yard. If that is the case, not sure any of those were designed for a 13:1. Most soccer mom caravans don't have 13:1! Did I miss a post? What did you do about your transmission issues?

The nose is broken off that starter.... So yea, you'll be replacing it and they probably won't accept it as a core for a rebuilt unit.

Look in the bellhousing for the broken pieces before you do anything else.
