My power steering (assist) decided to give it up earlier today. No leaks, no ruptured hoses or damaged fittings, belt in good condition, pump not squealing, fluid level appears normal, etc. ?????
What has gone away....there was no sign of imminent trouble ahead.:(
OK, so we know that Chrysler stamped the rad core support with the VIN, and also stamped the VIN in the trunk area under the weather stripping. Question, was that stamping at the trunk location consistent? In other words, would 70 owners luck up and find the mystical VIN under the weather...
Fellows I'm trying to decipher a timeline/date when this trans was built, etc.
The following is what I could gather from a stamping on the passenger side bell housing.
Stamping: 0B208008
Can you tell me something about it from this?
I'm still experiencing the just off idle hesitation...real BAD. Its really an annoyance...I can't even leave my driveway without the car shutting off when I squeeze the pedal. Edelbrock techs claim I need to reposition the squitter linkage to the upper hole. Haven't tried that yet. Agree or...
Just placed an order with Classic Industry for a new "replica" AGM maintenance free "red top" Mopar battery. This will replace the "non correct" imposter. These are made to order and a very popular one at that...giving that old time original look dimensions and all with the latest technology...
Thinking about swapping out the tired 3:23 open diff for a new 3:55 Sure Grip unit from Mancini. In hopes this will provide a crisper acceleration behind the 727. I don't feel like the original 3:23 is enough with the auto to get this heavy car up and moving.
Thoughts/comments...thanks:cents:
Your thoughts...please.
Even though my '70 wasn't optioned with factory hood pins...I think they would be a cool addition and w/o greatly hurting the originality.
To whom and where would you recommend I go to have a complete diagnosis and tune-up? Are the old school mechanics that were taught by Chrysler still around? Don't even know if I would trust any of the local Chrysler dealerships around here...its a new day in time.
Gentlemen - Never realized how temperamental these early Mopars were until I bought my first '70 runner. You have listened....guided and advised me on solving problems with these cars that you yourselves have dealt with at a much earlier time. So now I come to you yet once more to assist me in...
Is there a simplified version on how to properly set this linkage? How much travel...how to sync it up with the throttle...the 1:1 ratio they talk about?
East Tennessee Mopars car club is sponsoring its annual " Fun in the Sun" car show @ Chilhowee Park Fairgrounds in Knoxville, TN on June 25th 2016. This is a very well organized event. Allot of activities and vendors. See you there......!!!!
After studying the 1970 Mopar service manual...I fail to see how to obtain a tighter hood closure. From the latch mechanism down through the lower support I simply don't see any additional adjustment downward. Seeing this for the first time I was kind of hoping there would have been slotted...
Hypothetical question....Could a mis-matched torque converter be the culprit of a sluggish/bogged down feel...on initial accleration? I know I'm probably really reaching with this one but it is possible that the factory converter was replaced for whatever reason over the past 46 yrs.
I've...
